About Us

Carrie Anne Funnell is one of the UK’s most exciting artists working in glass today gaining international recognition. Her sculptures have gained awards, are collected & exhibited worldwide with some early examples in UK museum’s.

Carrie was born in Cambridgeshire in 1978 and was a natural born artist, so it was no surprise when she graduated from De Montfort University Leicester with a first class BA honours degree in 3D design with glass as her specialism. Within a few months she became a lecturer in Cambridgeshire and in less than a year she founded Carrie Anne Funnell Glass Art with her partner Sean Mickleburgh.

Their approach to art is rather different, focusing on bespoke pieces & forming relationships. The relationship between the inspiration of the natural world and Carrie’s astonishing glass sculptures. And the relationship that is built between client & artist to help influence focal works of art.  With Carrie’s extraordinary artistic talents and Sean’s technical and business expertise, their business was an immediate success. Over the first  eight years, Carrie Anne Funnell received extensive media coverage that helped her gain a recognition for truly beautiful and truly bespoke works of art.

It was such a rise to success that Carrie and Sean took a 12-month break in 2009, travelling around the globe and visiting 25 countries – an experience that gave Carrie’s work a whole new world of cultural influences and ideas that still fuel her creations today.

Combining the material’s essential fragility with its beauty and adding her creativity, she continues to push the boundaries of what glass is capable of.

Recently Carrie exhibits her large scale works at RHS Chelsea Flower Show, having won the highest awards there annually since 2018.
